Hawaii's Fishes : A Guide for Snorkelers, Divers, and Aquarists

Underwater photographs and informative descriptions of over 240 species, including classification, evolution, and best locations to spot them.
Customer Review: thorough identification guide
This was perfect for my recent trip to the Big Island. My 7yr old son is a nature enthusiast - and we couldn't get enough time snorkeling. This book was perfect for identifying the fish we saw (I had a waterproof case for my digital camera).
Customer Review: Second Edition is even better
Released late in 2007 in the islands, the 2nd edition has new, and software enhanced photographs, and more species. I go back and forth between Hoover and Randall (Shore Fishes of Hawai`i) to identify reef fish.

Inverters are the essential step between a battery's DC power and the AC power needed by standard household electrical systems. In a grid connected home, an inverter connected to a battery bank can provide an uninterruptible source of backup power in the event of power failures, or can be used to sell extra alternative energy power back to the utility company.

A "DC to AC" power inverter, also termed DC to AC converter, electronically converts DC power from a battery to 60 hertz AC power at 120 volts like in homes. Batteries produce power in direct current (DC) form, which run at very low voltages but cannot be used to run most modern household appliances. Inverters take the DC power supplied by a storage battery bank and electronically convert it to AC power. An inverter used for backup power in a grid connected home will use grid power to keep the batteries charged, and when grid power fails, it will switch to drawing power from the batteries and supplying it to the building electrical system.

Most modern inverters also include over voltage and under voltage protection, protecting sensitive equipment from dangerous power surges as well. All the DC to AC power inverters requires a 12-volt input, but there is a wide range of models available in the market depending on the output wattage that they supply. A few of the most widely used models are 150 watts, 325 watts, 600 watts, 1500 watts and 3000 watts. The lower wattage, models can be directly connected to a cars cigarette lighter socket, while the larger ones must be directly wired to bigger batteries.

Typical applications for a DC-AC power inverter include microwave ovens, televisions, video recorders, computer and power tools and monitoring/communications equipment.

Power Inverters provides detailed information on Power Inverters, DC To AC Power Inverters, Emergency Power Inverters, Car Power Inverter and more. Power Inverters is affiliated with How to Replace a Circuit Breaker.

Formative International 12 Inch Action Figure President Herbert Hoover Doll

Businesses incur expenses towards achieving their goals, and the profit margin is influenced by various factors such as operating and marketing costs. For instance, marketing costs are a major expense in the beverage industry. Similarly, operating costs are higher in manufacturing firms such as chemicals.

Operating costs are driven by many factors such as raw materials and conversion and maintenance costs. Raw materials are external to the organization, so there are little chances to reduce the costs. But conversion and maintenance costs are purely internal, and depend upon the efficiency of the organization. It is estimated that with good practices, maintenance costs can be brought down by 15 percent. Good practices can be preventive and predictive maintenance management systems.

Industries that extensively use conveyor belts include the mining and process industries. Conveyor belts are long, sometimes travel underground, and carry materials that may get stuck in between the rollers. It is difficult to track the problem in case of breakage caused by materials getting stuck. Maintenance issues include cleaning parts such as belts, rollers and pulleys, and scheduled changes.

As materials get pinched in between the pulleys or on the surface of the belts, cleaning the system is a prerequisite for good maintenance. Cleaning is needed at four stages. The first stage is at the drive pulley, below the flow of material. This is important when the material is sticky. The next stage is called secondary cleaning, and the cleaners are placed behind the pulleys; they are either t-shaped or arm-shaped. Belt brushes and plough cleaners are used to scrape the material on their return paths. The material used for cleaning is either rubber or polyurethane, which is strong enough to scrape but at the same time doesn't wear on the belt.

The maintenance of the system also depends upon the strength of the belt and the type of material transported.

Conveyor Belts provides detailed information on Conveyor Belts, Plastic Conveyor Belts, Wire Mesh Conveyor Belts, Rubber Conveyor Belts and more. Conveyor Belts is affiliated with Fiber Optic Connectors.

Customer Review: Not happy pet owner
I wish I had checked reviews on this before I bought. I have used it a few times, it does not do a very good job. I find I still need to haul the big carpet cleaner to get the spots cleaned up. I have cats and a dog that hates thunderstorms, so the messes occur regularly enough (hair balls, vomit, etc.) and it just doesn't clean them up very well.
Customer Review: It Really Works!
Since I bought this spot cleaner three years ago, it has been an indispensable tool in lifting tough stains out of my carpet. If you own Berber, you know that stains take to it like a magnet to a fridge and are really hard to pry off using traditional cleaners that come in a bottle or can. The Spot Scrubber makes short order of these stains. I've used it on everything from greasy shoe stains to spilled coffee, and each time the stains come out completely with little to no effort. A few tricks I've learned to get the most value from this machine may help you. * Saturate the stain with the liquid cleaning solution and wait a full 5 minutes for the cleaner to activate. This is an important step, since it is the liquid cleaner that ultimately works at removing the stain. * Next, use the revolving brush on the Spot Scrubber with steady even pressure, back and forth from right to left and up to down. This makes sure that the cleaner is thoroughly worked into the carpet fibers and attacks the stain. * Next, use the vacuum setting on the Spot Scrubber to thoroughly remove the cleaner, moisture and any stain residue. * I like to use an additional spray bottle with plain water after vacuuming the spot as a rinse aid to remove any residual cleaner. After spraying the water onto the spot a few times, I again vacuum the moisture away. Following these steps, I have had superb results with the Dirt Devil Spot Scrubber. A note about the critical reviews here: Without a doubt, this machine has its flaws. One, it's very important to make sure that the dirty water tank is emptied early and often. This will prevent liquid from spraying out of the machine's exhaust vents, as there are no built-in water-proof valves that keep the water locked into the tank. And, two, the machine is indeed very loud. But for small jobs, I believe these faults can be overlooked because it delivers solid results.

As much as we all would like for our ceiling fans to never wear out, we all know that is not reality. Ceiling fans do and will wear out eventually. And while it would be nice to just replace the entire fan, it is often more cost effective to replace the broke part.

The first step in replacing a part is to contact the manufacturer. If the fan is still under warranty, you may be able to have the fan fixed, usually free of charge. Generally, most parts are brand specific, so it is wise to get them through the manufacturer. Since generic parts will not work for these, you can generally order the parts straight from the manufacturers customer service department.

Ceiling fans consist of many different parts. The general parts are switches, motors, p.c. boards, ceiling fan remote controls, flywheels, capacitors, just to name a few. Some even have fitters that you can mount lights from. Although each unit is different, most have the same basic parts.

Probably one the easiest parts of the fan to replace are the blades. Since most retailers sell blades separately, replacement sets are easy to purchase. With age, capacitors are very likely to wear out. When replacing capacitors, make sure to replace with the same rated model you have. Sometimes, your fan simply needs a bolt or screw. These can generally be found at hardware stores. However, some ceiling fan retailers sell packets of common screws and other fasteners.

Unfortunately, there are some parts that can not be replaced. One specifically is the motor. However, it is rare that the problem is the motor itself, but rather a part related directly to the motor, such as the capacitor or the bearings.

So when you are replacing ceiling fan parts, try and keep a few things in mind. First, be sure to check with the manufacturer of your specific fan, to see if the fan is still under warranty. If however, the fan is no longer under warranty, there are parts available, at reasonable rates. You can shop your local Home Center and even the internet. Just be sure to find out whether your fan will accept generic parts or if they need brand specific parts. Always be sure to shop around, to make sure you are getting the best deal.

As with all other electrical appliances you should be careful when you install new parts, and if you are not sure that you know what you are doing contact a professional to do the work for you. There is also a chance that the part will be too expensive and that the installation may take time, or even has to be sent back to the factory, in these kind of cases you would do good to consider purchasing a new ceiling fan.

Ceiling fans are a great tool to cool your home and circulate the air around, many of the modern models have light fixtures in them and many other features, learn about Ceiling Fans and Ceiling Fans Parts installation tips and advice at http://ceilingfan.zupatips.com

I Love Hoover Embroidered Cap

Text on Embroidered Cap: Hoover.

Apparently there are some people out there who havent gotten the word that the days of mass marketing are over. These troglodytes are still randomly pushing an untargeted, self-serving message on people.

I call this To Whom It May Concern Marketing. I dont know about you, but receiving something addressed "To Whom It May Concern" sure gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

This type of marketing just makes people mad. They have enough on their minds without someone trying to elbow their way in with an offer that is of no interest. Typically, the offers are all about the product or service and not about the benefit to the prospect.

Today, whether you are selling yourself with a cover letter and resume or selling a product, it is a one-to-one world.

I frequently receive notes to my email address that are addressed "To Whom It May Concern", or "Hiring Manager", or even "Please pass this along to the appropriate person." These PR job seekers exemplify this bad "marketing" behavior.

I used to respond to these people. Id tell them: if you are looking for a job, it is your job to find it, not mine. Do a little research and find the right person - by name to target before you pull the trigger. Ive stopped responding.

On our website it is not hard to discover that we are a network of independent professionals. This means we dont have employees, and that probably should tell an intelligent job seeker that we dont need or want resumes.

Whether you sell products to customers, yourself to a hiring manager, or story ideas to journalists, you need to target people who have an interest and provide them information about how theyll benefit.

Marketers need to embrace this one-to-one world. Those dinosaurs refusing to do so are destined for extinction.

Customer Review: very good but not great
Overall I am pleased with this product. It is a good value. It does not quite live up to the hype of 5 star reviews. Don't get me wrong, it does as good of a job as any other cleaner I have used but there are still some stains that will not come out. I do recommend this product without hesitation.
Customer Review: Does a good job, but IT LEAKS
This carpet cleaner does a nice job, but, although I followed all the instructions to the best of my ability, IT LEAKS.

The best time to go to Las Vegas on vacation is in the spring or fall. Winters can be a bit cool and it has been known to snow as well. Even though it can be chilly during the winter this doesn't stop partiers from flocking to Las Vegas for New Years Eve. Prices on vacation packages and hotels tend to be a bit cheaper in during the winter months as well. So if you haven't been to Vegas it might be a good time to go and check it out for less money.

While taking your Las Vegas vacation there are many attractions, events and ways to lose your money. Gambling with either cards or slots is an excellent way to lose your money if that is why you are going. However, if you want to do some sightseeing; then there is plenty to do.

Astro-Zombies

Finally, the film that has it all! A mad astro-scientist ("B" horror king John Carradine) reviving corpses at his laboratory in a secluded mansion, two gore-crazed, solar-powered killer robot zombies, a bloody trail of girl-next-door victims, Chinese communist spies and deadly Mexican secret agents led by the insanely voluptuous Tura Satana (Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!) and intrepid CIA agent Wendell Corey hot on their trail and trying to figure it all out! Almost too much for one movie; must be seen to be believed! A high-powered fusion of Ed Wood, Russ Meyer and George Romero! Co-written and co-produced by television star Wayne Rogers (M*A*S*H).
Customer Review: from the dumpster to our dvd players
astro zobies...sounds like a more promising plan 9 from outer space. it's not much better actually. my buddy nabbed this dvd used for real cheap and we had a good time trashing it. probably not something i'd wanna see again though. i remember alot of the movie being padded out. one grueling scene had some chick looking around terrified in a shoddy lab room for what felt like an hour! just form the openning credits you know you're in trouble. i'm still not sure if the marching wind-up toy robots were supposed to be actuall robots or not. worth a look for bad movie buffs
Customer Review: Tura Tura Tura!
Worth the price just to see 'Satana' (Tura Satana) in action! The "interrogation" of the CIA agent is a cinematic masterpiece. 'Frenchot' the mad scientist's (John Carradine) assistant is the inspiration for Dr. Tongue's assistant 'Woody Tobias Junior' on SCTV. The hat that 'Juan' wears as Satana, himself and their deceptive partner drive through L.A. using the device that Spock used on Star Trek to search for life on the surface of planets is a fashion statement! The scenes shot in broad daylight that are supposed to be taking place at night...the head that's chopped off that's clearly a wig stand with flanged edges...I could go on and on...but, again, this movie is worth it just for Tura Satana's role as 'Satana'. The only reason I gave it only four stars is the electrocution death of the star of the movie at the end of the film and the ridiculous head of the Astro Zombie himself.

What are Steam Juicers?

Steam juicers are growing in popularity as the secret gets around as to how good the juice produced is. But what are steam juicers? There are generally three components to steam juicers: the water pan, which is the bottom section, the juice kettle in the middle, and the steamer basket at the top. Steam juicers are constructed from stainless steel with an aluminum bottom.

How do you use Steam Juicers?

First you fill the water pan with water. Place this on the stove and leave to boil. Put the juice kettle on top of the water pan--this is where the juice will collect and be extracted via a hose. Next you place the rinsed fruit in the steam basket (no need to stem or pit!) and leave to steam. Juice will begin to fill the juice kettle after 40 minutes, and the whole process should take about an hour. Enthusiasts say that the juice from steam juicers is the best and smoothest they have ever tasted. You can use vegetables as well as fruit. And as well as juices, you can make delicious jellies, syrups and much more.

Who makes Steam Juicers?

There are two main manufacturers of steam juicers: The Finnish company Opa who make the Mehu-Liisa steamer (pronounced 'Mehu Lisa') and Back to Basics who make a similar device. Both come with recipies and instructions--though using a steam juicer is very easy, and extremely quick to clean. There are no moving parts and no need for electricity.

But wait, there's more...

The steam juicers, both the Back to Basics and the Mehu Liisa, can also be used as steam cookers. Just remove the juice kettle section and you have a steam cooker--the healthiest way to cook and eat vegetables. It's also perfect for steaming rice, fish, poultry, clams, cakes, puddings, and more. The steamer basket also doubles as a colander for quickly draining spaghetti, washed lettuce, vegetables, and garden produce. And, of course, The water pan can be used as a large pan for stewing, simmering and boiling. You can't get more versatile than that...

This article was written by Piers Crispin, a writer on consumer affairs. Please visit juicers.organic-knowledge.com for more information on Steam Juicers, as well as Juice Extractors.

People who enjoy hiking and camping are never sure of the quality of water they will have to drink or use during their outings. Since carrying large quantities of bottled water is totally impractical, many seasoned campers and hikers carry portable water filters with them to deal with the water at each site. Just because you don't have an air cooler doesn't mean you can't have a water filter! Everyone wants clean water to drink, but it is especially important to stay hydrated when you are out in the woods and trekking around; you really want to be sure your water is pure when you are drinking so much of it. Even a very pretty, clear stream may not be safe drinking water because so many of the contaminants in water are completely invisible. Tiny bacteria and microcosms cannot be seen and you should try to filter them out or boil the water to destroy them.

Even if you are not hiking or camping, but just taking a long bike ride, you want to make sure you drink plenty of water. But how much could you possibly carry on your bike? A distance biker should carry a water filter and in this way, any source of water he comes across can become clean drinking water in minutes. There are some systems that are built right into water containers, or the biker can carry a system that filters the water before it goes into the bottle. The last thing a biker wants to do is get sick from dirty water, out there in the woods.

One of the most popular ways to purify water is to use electrolysis, and that is the usual system used by the filters that are built into the bottle. But even the simplest filtering system that forces the water through a filter to remove particles and impurities will be beneficial to the drinker. Just make sure the filter material is not too large; it will allow too many particles to pass through it.

Many times these portable water filtering systems consist of a pitcher attached to the filter. Water is poured into the pitcher, and the enclosed filter will remove unsafe particles from the water.

The bacteria that is most threatening to health are larger than one micron, so as long as a water filter is able to filter to that degree, it will remove harmful bacteria. Reverse osmosis filters use smaller and smaller filters in the process to get to the smaller bacteria.

Water filters will remove all sediment and most bacteria from water, but don't expect it to necessarily remove all of the smells. Even the most expensive filters may not be able to remove some sources of water odor. It may be necessary to have this kind of water treated professionally by purification.

Customer Review: Good product at a nice price.
I am by no means an expert on carpet cleaning detergent but this product works well and I am glad I purchased it. It helped remove the vomit stains on my rugs left by my cats and I am REAL thankful for that. It has a nice, pleasant scent, too.

Do you know that washing machine consumes around 12-15% of average household electricity consumption? With higher oil prices projected in the next coming years, it's no wonder more people are turning to energy saving appliances to conserve their electricity usage.

The good thing is, with the advancement of technology, more washing machine manufacturers are focusing on producing washing machine that more efficient in the use of energy. Nonetheless, be prepared to fork out at least 10 to 15% for a washer that consumes less energy. Here are a few design features that you can look out for if you plan to purchase an energy efficient washer.

Eco Buttons

This will show you what the temperature for washing the clothes as well as indicate to you the loading levels for the washing machine. Look for higher spin speed as it can help to expedite clothes moisture reduction and as a result, ensures lesser energy usage.

Energy labeling

The good thing is, you can find out how efficiency a washer is with the energy labeling stickers on the washing machines at the showroom. These labels will be an indication of how much energy the washing machine consumes in relation to spin speed, washing performance as well as water usage.

Ecolabel

Although it seems similar to the energy label, the Ecolabel is voluntary in nature. It spells out both water and electricity energy consume for the appliance. You may not find many washer brands carrying this Ecolabel. In fact, consumers tend to trust this label more as manufacturers are required to pay a license fee, which means that the washing machine has passed the required energy efficiency standard. And if you are curious, Hoover's appliances were the first to achieve this Ecolabel in 1993.

To summarize, if you are looking to buy a new washing machines, remember the following points:

Look for washing machine that runs on less than 160 units of Kwh or below.Buy the right washing machine capacity usage. If you do not have a need for a 10kg washing machine, get a smaller 5kg one instead. Buy a hot-filled washing machine. Such washer losses less heat when compared to conventional washing machines.

With the evolution of society comes the evolution of crime. Items that were overlooked, discarded, scrap, or trash have increased in value so much that these items have become hot commodities for thieves. What you are throwing away could very well be valuable enough for someone to steal.

Copper

Due to global demand in electronics manufacturing and construction, copper prices continue to defy the laws of gravity and are selling at record high prices. Collection and recycling centers are paying increasingly higher prices per pound for copper, and this has incentivized a new breed of crooks to prowl for the precious metal.

Copper theft happens under the cover of darkness, and in broad daylight. Thieves are taking copper from cell phone towers, baseball field lights, and stealing huge spools of copper wire from utility company grounds. Security guards are posted at many construction sites, due to the propensity for some robbers to illegally abscond with copper wire from commercial and home building sites. There have even been reports of individuals returning home from a day at work, only to discover that a mysterious lack of water pressure was due to missing copper pipes that were cut out and removed from the crawl spaces beneath their homes.

Industrious robbers have been so bold as to take massive sculptures from public parks under the cover of darkness, and desperate enough to steal the copper plaques from gravestones. In spite of the bold maneuvers of these thieves, it can be a challenge for law enforcement in some areas to adjust to the new wave of criminals. Proving the illicit activity of a copper robber can be a tricky task for a cop. Some bungling thieves have short-circuited the legal system and suffered immediate consequences by electrocuting themselves in the process of attempting to steal live copper wires.

Beer Kegs

For years, the biggest concern for beer kegs was monitoring the drinking age of the consumer. That was until the word got out that the stainless steel kegs are valuable empty, as well as full. Thieves are taking the empty kegs from alleyways behind bars and breweries, or looting the empty kegs from under the unsuspecting noses of inebriated collegiate revelers. The price paid for stainless steel scrap has more than doubled in the last five years, and with demand rising for the metal, it is expected that this trend will continue.

Catalytic Converters

When was the last time that you went shopping for jewelry and noticed the comparative price for platinum? When an album goes platinum, it is cause for celebration. However, when the catalytic converter is stolen from your car in the middle of the night, it is cause for alarm. Catalytic converters contain between three to seven grams of the precious metal that trades at over US $1,471.50 per ounce. As awareness has increased of this rolling goldmine of platinum, so has the rate of theft.

Reports of stolen catalytic converters has gradually reached epidemic proportions, but has managed to avoid making front page headlines. Perhaps the lack of public awareness is due to the fact that many of the defenseless victims had the catalytic converters stolen from their cars while parked at the same party at which the kegs were stolen? This could explain the difficulty in obtaining consistent descriptions of the criminals and the scene of the crime. Some people might suspect that there would be some method for identifying and capturing a suspect that has a pick-up truck loaded with empty kegs, catalytic converters, large copper statues and gravestone plaques. Then again, this does sound like a typical night on campus.

Manhole Covers

This is not an urban myth. Manhole covers have become such a coveted item for trade-in value that many streets have become littered with unsafe gaping holes. According to the New York Times description of the situation in Philadelphia, "thieves have so thoroughly stripped the neighborhoods on the city's north and southwest sides that some blocks look like slalom courses, dotted with orange cones to warn drivers and pedestrians of gaping holes, some nearly 30 feet deep." The New York Times reports, "More than 2,500 covers and grates have disappeared in the past year, up from an annual average of about 100."

For the citizens of Philadelphia, the theft of manhole covers is no laughing matter. The criminals are not deterred by the changing of the seasons. A slalom course of roads pitted with thirty foot holes is dangerous enough in daylight, but how much worse will this situation become with snow and ice? It is not only dangerous for the unsuspecting driver, but also for every other vehicle that may be beside or behind the unfortunate family that is first into the scene of the crime.

Restaurant Grease

Processed fryer oil is called yellow grease, and is traded on the commodities market. It is a form of biodiesel fuel that can be used in some cars and trucks. As the prices of gas and ethanol have risen dramatically, so has the value of yellow grease. From 2000 to 2008, the price of processed fryer oil increased on the commodities trading market from 7 cents per pound to 33 cents per pound, which is nearly US $2.50 a gallon.

Yes, it's true. That grease that is used to cook your French Fries is also a lower cost alternative to the stuff that you are probably pumping into the tank of your automobile. As oil prices continue to increase relentlessly, so does the price of yellow grease, and the gas that fills your tank.

A New Economic Engine

With so much attention on sustainability, environmental protection, electronic waste, and compliance, society has made tremendous strides to protect mother earth. In the process of reusing precious metals to alleviate the depletion of natural resources, and avoid dumping toxic waste into landfills and water supplies, we have created a rapid new marketplace for those items that were formerly regarding as scrap, waste, or trash. That is the good news, that your trash really is someone else's treasure. The bad news is that some unsavory individuals want to take that treasure with inappropriate means. It is a situation that will continue to escalate and aggravate society until proper controls are created to monitor and manage the buying, selling, and trading of metals, materials, and even grease.

The proper response to this situation is not to create costly and unenforceable regulations, but rather to embrace this new economic engine with appropriate guidelines and traceable transactions. There are millions of dollars exchanged in the processing of electronic waste, scrap, and metals. There is an enormous river of currency that flows like an aqueduct under the foundations of society, with almost no notice except for the thirty foot holes that open in front of our very eyes. The days of treating reusable materials as inconsequential garbage have passed and are buried in an unmarked grave, because someone stole the copper plaque. There is a new resource in renewable materials, and an evolving marketplace that demands our attention. In the process of being environmentally conscious, we have created a new source for sustainable green dollars in the economy. As the price for new resources continues to grow, so does the demand for the old.

Hoover 40307016 FloorMate Grout-Cleaning Solution, 16 Ounces

Hoover Floormate, 16 OZ, Grout Cleaner, Brightens & Cleans All Grout.
Customer Review: THESE PRODUCTS WORK!
Hoover Grout Cleaner made my 5 year old travertine grout lines look like new--and trust me I have tried everything. I have natural stone so some uneven areas and I used the product with a grout brush not the Hoover Floor Mate machine which mises 90% of the grout, but does clean rest of floor very well. Grout is tricky. I recommend that you go to Home Depot/Lowes, get the grout brush, and sit on the floor and clean grout lines with this great product like a Marine. Great looking floors now. Highly recommned this product.
Customer Review: Great Product
It really cleans up! Does a great job on getting the dirt out of the grout. Makes the tile look nice and shiny too.

If you have rug-rats running around your house the way I do. you must be used to having them tearing through every room like cyclones and wreaking all sorts of damage as they go. You always know where they have been. I can follow my daughter through the rooms by the mess she leaves in her wake. Every stain imaginable is left as evidence of where she has been there. Of course, this is upsetting, and I have tried just about everything to make her stay outside and keep her mess there. I haven't been too successful. So I end up with the inevitable shoe scuffs, soda stains, mud tracks, etc, all through the house. Sometimes it makes you wonder why you wanted children in the first place. But, at least for the next 18 years. I just have to figure out what to do about the spills and smears that end up on the carpet every day.

One solution would be to change the carpet every time the mess got too bad. Not being a millionare, this is not the solution for me. Or perhaps I could have a professional cleaner come in once a week to clean up all the food drink and other stains. Well, that's outside my budget too. No, I guess like most parents. I have to find a way to clean up the mess myself. The most practical and economical solution is to use a steam cleaner. If you thought steam cleaning was only the purview of cleaning companies, you would be surprised. There are many steam cleaners that are available for the homeowner to buy and use at his own home. The most popular brand is Hoover. I decided to purchase a Hoover steam cleaner even before my daughter became a toddler and started making a mess on her own. The baby mess, with spilled bottles, spit up food and other "acccidents" convinced me that it would be a good investment in the long run, I was warned by other parents about the mess that is inevitable with children, but I had to find out on my own. The almost daily stains that my daughter is responsible for have convinced us that this was the right decision. Even though we have tried to have her be more careful, we are still overwhelmed with stains. Our wonderful steam cleaner, however, gets rid of al the stains, even the most stubborn ones such as coffee (which I can't blame my daughter for!).

If you are looking for a good steam cleaner. Best Buy has a great selection at the best prices. They even carry the right kind of cleaners to use in the steam cleaner. Another source is to search on the internet for a good steam cleaner. There, you will find a tremendous array of steam cleaners in every price range.

Few places on Earth epitomize the cigar smokers lifestyle quite like Las Vegas. With slot machines, cigar lounges, and all night clubs, this is one place where smoking, drinking, and the lure of money work together to reel in pursuers of pleasure and lovers of luxury.

Ever teetering between a city based on vices and a city serving as a family vacation spot, Las Vegas always remains one thing: a Mecca for entertainment. From white tigers to a hotel light visible from outer space, Vegas, quite simply, has it all. Its a destination where everyone wants to stay awake; no wonder the city never sleeps.

Like many great things, Las Vegas rose from humble beginnings. Translated as The Meadows or The Grasslands, its name was assigned by Spaniards who entered the area while venturing up through Texas along the Old Spanish Trail. It is a city that went from one extreme, Mexico ownership, to another, a missionary-laden area where Native Americans were converted to Mormonism. In 1905, Las Vegas was officially established, first as a railroad town and then, in 1911, as an incorporated city.

When the construction of the Hoover Dam was finished in 1936, Las Vegas began to see a great amount of growth, both residential and commercial. The Dam also brought an influx of tourists. This, as well as the legalization of gambling that occurred five years earlier, helped pave the way for the casinos and hotels that occupy Vegas today. A city that began as a stop for pioneers had now evolved into a stop for the rich, the famous, and the average citizen with hopes of becoming rich and famous; it has evolved from a Western trail of the olden days into the epitome of a town that knows exactly how to party.

Freemont Street in downtown Vegas, and the Las Vegas Strip are the two most well known streets in Nevada, and possibly America. It is on these streets that people roll the dice, pull the slots, smoke a stogie, and ask for a Jack and Coke, a double if theyre losing. It is on these streets that some people become rich, some people become poor, and some people become married. It is on these streets that everyone begins to wish gambling was tax deductible.

Freemont Street, a road dating back to the days when Vegas was founded, was the place to be years ago. The Rat Pack lingered on it, Elvis performed in its hotels, and its lights were featured in hundreds of Hollywood productions. The major street in downtown, Freemont Street has been home to some of the most famous hotels in history. These include The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, The Pioneer Club, The Golden Nugget, and The Mint. When it came down to it, Freemont Street was more than downtown Las Vegas, it was Las Vegas.

But, in Vegas of all places, things dont last forever. In the 1990s, Freemont Street met a rapid decline when the Las Vegas Strip came into being. With mega resorts on every block, hotels filled with water slides, amusement parks, and shopping malls, the Las Vegas Strip is now harbors the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. Freemont Street is still a popular attraction for those who want cheap food and better gambling odds. While the Strip seems to attract the younger crowd, Freemont Street is the home base of the more seasoned gamblers.

Whether staying on Freemont Street or The Strip, Las Vegas is sure to be a good time. Only in Las Vegas can you strike it rich at the airport. Only in Las Vegas can you watch someone retrieving money out of an ATM machine while a hooker stands by. Only in Las Vegas can you lose so much money that your checkbook refuses to speak to you. Only in Las Vegas can you win so much money that your estranged spouse suddenly wants to reconcile. Only in Las Vegas can you experience, well, Las Vegas.

There are certain things that are required when traveling into Las Vegas: spending money, thick skin, a camera, and, of course, a good cigar. Going without one of these is just too much of a gamble.

Ever wondered how you could make your own water purifier? It is risky business to do so because it is not possible to tell whether water is safe to drink just by looking at it.

Simple procedures such as boiling or the use of a household activated carbon filter are not sufficient for treating all the possible contaminants that may be present in water from an unknown source. Even natural spring water - considered safe for all practical purposes in the 1800s - must now be tested before determining what kind of treatment, if any, is needed. Chemical analysis, while expensive, is the only way to obtain the information necessary for deciding on method of purification.

To use a home made water purifier you will need to first determine what contaminants you will need to remove from the water, and then choose the proper method to achieve the result you seek.

If you desire a source of clean water at home over the long-term, you will get much better results from many of the products offered commercially; especially where extensive research and cutting edge technology has been developed to achieve the most effective reduction of contaminants. No home made water purifier will come close to removing the number and types of contaminants handled by most commercial water purification systems. Your safety and health can depend on getting the water right.

Water purification technologies includes, but are not limited to: ultraviolet light, filtration, water softening, reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, deionization and powdered activated carbon treatment. All of these methods can be found in a wide range of products for the home at relatively reasonable prices.

In a pinch, you can achieve a home made water purifier. The following water purification methods are taken from the Outdoor Action Guide to Water Purification, part of The Backpacker's Field Manual by Rick Curtis.

Biologically Contaminated vs. Toxic Water

Biologically contaminated water is water that contains microorganisms such as Giardia (a common microorganism that, if not killed, leads to intestinal disorders), bacteria, or viruses that can lead to infections (see Gastrointestinal Infections, page 316). Toxic water sources, on the other hand, contain chemical contamination from pesticide runoffs, mine tailings, and so on. A home made water purifier that involves boiling, filtering, or chemically treating water can remove or kill microorganisms, but it will not remove chemical toxins.

Boiling

Boiling is the most certain way of killing all microorganisms. According to the Wilderness Medical Society, water temperatures above 160 F (70 C) kill all pathogens within 30 minutes and above 185 F (85 C) within a few minutes. So in the time it takes for the water to reach the boiling point (212 F or 100 C) from 160 F (70 C), all pathogens will be killed, even at high altitude. To be extra safe, let the water boil rapidly for one minute, especially at higher altitudes since water boils at a lower temperature (see page 68.)

Chemical Purification

There are two types of chemical treatment: those using iodine and those using chlorine. There are a variety of products on the market, so follow the directions on the bottle. Be advised that many of the tablets have an expiration date and become ineffective after that point. Also, once the bottle has been opened, the tablets must be used within a certain period. When in doubt, buy a new bottle. Remember that chemical purification methods may only be partially effective, depending on the water temperature.

Iodine has been shown to be more effect than chlorine-based treatments in inactivating Giardia cysts. Be aware that some people are allergic to iodine and cannot use it as a form of water purification.

Chlorine Treatment

Chlorine can be used for persons with iodine allergies or restrictions. Remember that water temperature, sediment level, and contact time are all elements in killing microorganisms in the water. Chlorine is also a toxic substance and if not used properly or used over time can be very harmful. Home made water purification over the long-term is not a healthy or effective way to assure clean drinking water.

Filtration

There are a number of devices on the market that filter out microorganisms. A water filter pumps water through a microscopic filter that is rated for a certain-size organism. The standard size rating is the micron (the period at the end of this sentence is about 600 microns). Depending on the micron rating of the filter, smaller organisms (like viruses) can pass through.

Be cautious when selecting a filter. You should know what potential organisms you need to treat for. You don't want to go to an area where a virus like hepatitis A is present in the water (a problem in some developing countries) with a filter that will handle only a larger organism like Giardia.

If what I have told you makes it seem like a home made water purifier is more risky and more trouble than it's worth, then maybe it's time to consider a simple, easy to use, affordable commercial home water purifier. I personally recommend the Aquasana brand for it's portability (if you move, just unplug it and move it to your next house), its affordable cost and its effectiveness in removing all sorts of contaminants.

2008 Topps Historical Campaign Match-Ups #1932 Franklin D. Roosevelt / Herbert Hoover - Presidential Canidates (Baseball Cards)

I used to think that home water purifiers were a luxury, or at best unnecessary! Boy, was I wrong! When I started to really look into what was in the water I was drinking, I was completely shocked!

I quickly came to the conclusion I needed a water purifier, and I needed one fast. The only problem was I didn't know much about them. I had no idea how to compare home water purifiers to find the best type for me and my family. So, I did a lot more research about the various kinds of these devices that there were. Let me give you a brief summary of what I found out.

There's quite a bit more in the water we drink other than pure "H2o"! Some of it is good, a lot of it is very, very bad for our health.

Our bodies are 70% water. What's more is water is completely necessary to most of the chemical processes that go on inside of us. For instance, your liver is 96% water. So, obviously we need plenty of water to survive and thrive.

We also need more than just the water itself. Humans were designed (or evolved) to drink plenty of pure water with trace minerals in it. Take the mineral calcium, for instance. We need that in trace amounts! If we don't get that, then our bodies will steal it from our bones! No wonder diseases and conditions like osteoporosis are becoming more prevalent.

Unfortunately, in addition to just the water and the trace minerals that we need for optimum health, our water also contains a ton of ingredients, both organic and inorganic, that are detrimental to our well being.

It's highly likely that your tap water has traces of at least one pesticide in it! It also probably has lead and a number of bacterial and viruses--even though it's been sterilized!

Cysts are dormant microorganisms that are not completely killed by sterilization and which wreak havoc when they get inside of us. Anyone who has ever had a bout of Giardia can attest to this.

Not only that, but the sterilization process itself leaves a residue of chlorine in our water. Chlorine gas was used in World War I as a weapon of mass destruction!

In case you're thinking bottled water is the answer to this problem, think again! Bottled water is no better for us than tap water. As a matter of fact, there are fewer restrictions on the quality of bottled water than tap water.

So, what's the solution?

A home water purifier is the solution! If you haven't considered a home water purifier, then now is the time. Get on the Internet and start researching this stuff for yourself. Compare home water purifiers! Find the right one for you, then buy it!

To a first-timer, the city of Vegas is a visual shock of neon lights, gigantic structures, and beautiful people. But there is certainly more to Las Vegas than just the posh hotels, flashy entertainment, and crazy gambling. And one way to experience this is to ride a custom chopper rental through the Las Vegas landscape that lies just beyond the sparkling strip.

Custom chopper rental shops are available all over Las Vegas. And it is a treat to know that most of them offer package tours when you decide to rent one of their custom rentals. For starters, you can take a drive down the Vegas Boulevard and marvel at the uniqueness of each structure. Or perhaps cruise through the "Glitter Gulch" or Fremont Street and watch the beautiful array of lights and stunning ladies. Then perhaps pull up in custom chopper rental in the chopper-friendly Las Vegas hotels such as Hard Rock Hotel & Casino or the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa.

And when you've had your fill of downtown Vegas, go on a trip through the city's rugged desert lands. Take a ride on your custom chopper rental and discover the Valley of Fire and the Mojave Desert. Perhaps go southeast and take a tour through the Hoover Dam, one of the nation's greatest historic landmarks. And maybe check out the man-made reservoir Lake Mead along the way. The Red Rock Canyon's terrain lie await for you to course your custom chopper rental through its red sandstone ground that lies west of Las Vegas.

In Las Vegas, where exotic car rental vehicles are the norm, a custom chopper rental can be an alternative driving experience. Like many of their kind, these rentals come with daily, weekly, and sometimes, monthly rental packages. And as their names suggest, these are rides that you can choose to design for yourself.

If you're a stranger to the Nevada landscape, worry no more. Some custom chopper rental companies in Las Vegas provide you with your own tour guide at the request for one. But you can always attempt to ride the adventurous side by unraveling the countryside on your own or with a group of friends for an added sense of fun.

And if the Las Vegas terrain is not enough, some rental providers even allow long-distance rental packages that can go as far as Salt Lake City or even Vancouver, Canada. And impress your friends or a date with a powerful muscle of a ride in a custom chopper rental.

The quintessential visitor should not immediately assume that Vegas is all about the urbane. He should, in fact, try to discover the Vegas hosts a panoramic exhibition of nature in its entire splendor.

So whether your trip to Las Vegas is the first or the nth time, do opt for the alternative outdoor ride that a custom chopper rental can provide.

Customer Review: Pros and cons....
I purchased a Hoover carpet shampooer recently, and was very pleased with performance and quality, so naturally I looked at Hoover's line of vacuums. The price for the canister was a bit much, I thought---but I liked the idea of the freedom it offered, having had uprights for the last 10 years. My first impression was that the quality of the plastic wasn't there, so only 3 stars--for example, if you open the top to reveal the two small attachments (the other two: floor/brush and upholstery won't fit anywhere), the lid seems like it wouldn't take much pressure to accidently snap it off. Also, when it arrived, the plastic window covering wasn't attached--no problem, it snapped right in---but it left me with an unsettled feeling about my purchase. The good news is that it's pretty easy to roll, the handle is adjustable, and for the first time in ages I can actually vacuum under my bed :) I also like the way the canister secures the handle; it doesn't take much more room than the upright. The suction is good, as I haven't seen my carpet's nap in a while; it's around 5 years old. Overall, I think if it were priced a little less or the plastic was more durable, I'd feel better...but with both Hoover products, my carpet is looking more like its old 'new' self.
Customer Review: Hoover S3670 Anniversary WindTunnel Bagged Canister-Excellent Vac!
It's been a long road to get to this particular vacuum. About a year ago, I bought a used Filter Queen that was touted as the best canister on market. I hated it from the start, would just push objects across the carpet instead of picking them up. DREADED using it, it was so cumbersome and didnt have any modern features, such as auto cord rewind. So finally was able to sell that, even lost a few bucks on deal but just wanted it out of the house. Then I bought what I thought I wanted, a Sears model. Have had a Sears Progressive before but the quick release feature broke on it (a piece of plastic inside tube, could not be fixed) and now it was quick releasing too quickly..... So I thought that would be a good choice but once I got it home, it just seemed flimsy and cheap. Didn't even work so well. So back to the store it went. Seems Sears products are getting flimsier and are not the same quality as of just a few years ago. Did a bunch of internet research and came upon this Hoover model. Was not even aware that other vacuums, other than Sears, had the quick release feature. This is my major requirement, and was pleased to find another option than Sears. All reviews I found spoke highly of this vacuum, so I ordered it sight unseen and it arrived yesterday. Well I am most pleased!!! Just taking it out of the box the quality seemed superior to the Sears model I had just returned. Also very sharp looking, and it works great!! Super long cord, telescopic wand, really generous sized hardwood floor attachment and it also has this odd shaped onboard brush attachment , that I am in love with. It is the perfect shape to clean your baseboards and with your adjustable wand, there is no need for alot of uncomforable bending. Great for a tall gal! So I am now a very happy neat freak, finally have a vacuum I am happy with and look forward to using!!!

Vacuum cleaners are classified based on their prices and functional features. Customers normally prefer a vacuuming device that offers the most features in the least possible cost. The term of warranty offered is also a major factor in determining the reliability of a vacuuming device. These factors should be considered for selecting the best vacuuming model or brand available in the market.

There are different models of vacuum cleaners available in the market, which are sourced from different manufacturers. Selecting the best vacuum cleaner from these can become a very time consuming affair. Customers can also buy a used, refurbished, or wholesale vacuum cleaner. All this makes it very difficult to select the most cost effective vacuuming device.

To select the best from available options, it is necessary to conduct a comparative study analysis of available vacuum models. This includes comparison of prices, customer feedbacks, manufacturers' profile, after sales service and warranty period. This can be done with the help of product comparison shareware or freeware available on the Internet. Buyers can also read customer feedbacks and reviews to ascertain the benefits and drawbacks of different vacuum models.

The best vacuums available in the market have specially designed suction pipes that can accommodate different types of attachments required for cleaning inaccessible and hard to reach places such as sides of sofas and backsides of drawers and cupboards. Other features include blower functions that blow out dust and other garbage from nooks and crannies where suction nozzles cannot work. The blown garbage is then collected using normal suction process.

Improvements in technology have increased the rate of development of new products and features. A vacuuming device, which is considered as the best, may become redundant after a few years due to availability of more advanced vacuums. To avoid this, buyers should opt for a vacuuming device that is designed to incorporate new features brought about by technological advancements.

Genuine Hoover Steam Vac Solution Tank

Water is the substance of life and the human body is made of 70% water. In order to keep they body properly hydrated we must renew our bodies with water. Over the years, much concern about the purity and safety of our water supplies has been discussed. Increasingly bottled water became popular. This is because it was easy to take anywhere you went and it had better taste.

Research has considered the benefits of bottled water over tap water and some research has shown that it is not necessarily more pure or safer than tap water. The question now becomes how can the purity of water be accomplished? This may be the reason for the rise in the popularity of water filtration systems.

There are shower head filters including hand-held shower wands. Faucet-mounted filters are also called point of use systems, and whole-house filters. There are pitcher systems, individual use (filters for individual bottles) or straw filters. Depending on need, budget, and space, an appropriate system can be found.

Water filtration systems help to provide the reassurance that the water is clean and safe to drink. Clean water is important for good health, for the growth and development of children, and for pregnant women and their unborn babies.

These systems help to reduce the occurrence of diseases such as cancer which may be linked to a contaminated water supply. Lead in the water contributes to the occurrence of over 400,000 learning disabilities found in United States children on a yearly basis.

Water filtration removes lead and many of the 2100 known contaminants and this includes some known poisons.

Municipal water supplies are not immune from outbreaks of dangerous bacteria that could get into water. In the areas where pure water is discovered, the people in that area are healthier. These are just a few of the reasons to consider water filtration systems.
